At Monday night’s Fashion Awards, Gigi Hadid took home the coveted International Model of the Year award. In her acceptance speech (which you can watch below), the supermodel shouted out her ever-growing community of Instagram followers, but stressed that her most valued supporters are of designer-clad skin and bone. “I just want to say that I know I’m in the generation of social media, and I’m so blessed for that,” the Victoria’s Secret model held. “But the fashion industry is my family, and you guys are the ones that I’m here for. To everyone who has been so genuine and looked beyond what the rest of the world looked for, that has meant so much to me. Thank you so much for inspiring me, and teaching me, and being the most amazing industry I could ever ask to be part of.”
She beat out her little sister Bella, bestie Kendall and colleagues Adwoa Aboah and Lineisy Montero for the honor. Although all five women had a pretty stellar 2016 career-wise, Gigi’s win came as no surprise. This was totally her year.
