Watch: Here’s How Cindy Crawford, Selena Gomez and More Celebs Reacted to Their First Vogue Covers

In case a limited-edition Karl Lagerfeld-designed dress line, exclusive AF fashion conference and 774-page September issue featuring gushy notes and “warm congratulations” from every designer in the biz weren’t enough to tip you off, it’s Vogue’s 125th birthday. (It’s official. Vogue is that friend who insists on fêteing her existence for a full week, no matter how haggard and hungover everyone’s feeling by day two. But we get it — when you’re over a century and a quarter old, you pull out all the stops.)

Today, checking off yet another medium, the glossy released a video celebrating the occasion. In the two-minute and 15-second clip, former Vogue cover stars — Cindy Crawford, Jennifer Aniston, Kendall Jenner, Selena Gomez, Elle Fanning, Kirsten Dunst, Ruth Negga and Gwen Stefani — tell of the first time they fronted the fashion bible.

When Crawford’s cover first hit newsstands, she immediately went and bought a stack. (Natch.) Sadly, the salesperson didn’t recognize her and chided her for picking up three copies of the same mag. Fanning “lost total control of her body.” Aniston felt like she’d won the lotto, even though her understanding of the fashion world was, to put it lightly, hazy. (“When I first understood what fashion was, I thought couture was a designer—I was like, ‘This guy does everything!’” admits the actress.)
