Cushnie to Show Without Ochs at New York Fashion Week

After a 10-year partnership with Michelle Ochs, Carly Cushnie is forging ahead solo as the CEO and creative director of the rebranded Cushnie et Ochs, now known simply as Cushnie. Cushnie will be debuting her Spring 2019 collection at New York Fashion Week this September, including a Lee Jeans denim capsule collection that will be available for purchase almost immediately.

Cushnie and Ochs, graduates of The New School’s Parsons of Design, entered into a design partnership a year after meeting in school. The brand eventually garnered a large following, attracting celebrities such as Michelle Obama, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Lopez and Beyoncé. Known for coordinating their outfits at fashion week, the duo’s designs were often described as a “clean and sophisticated take on femininity.”

On serving as both CEO and creative director, Cushnie said, “Nobody knows my business better than I do. Before the investment and before Peter joined, I was technically in this role without the title so to speak. Even though it seems very new to the public that I’m both roles, it’s not entirely new for me.”

Cushnie will be sending her eponymous collection down the runway for the first time, with the help of in-demand stylist Kate Young. While we await her solo debut, check out the Fall Cushnie et Ochs runway show below.
