CHARLOTTE RONSON F/W 2010

Whitney, Erin, and Samantha from The City were there, as was Mark Indelicato from Ugly Betty, Beyonce’s sister Solange, Matt Dillon (why?), Tinsley Mortimer, Peaches Geldof, and of course, Samantha Ronson was spinning. As for the collection, it was tight, cohesive, and very Fall/Winter (a welcome change from all the brightly colorful looks I’ve been seeing so far).

While the collection’s color palette was heavy on the blacks and gray, there were some welcome jolts of sky blue, popping orange, and fuchsia. It’s a testament to Ronson’s easy-breezy cool aesthetic that even with dark colors, her looks were styled in such a way that they seemed light and airy. Ronson’s girl is the epitome of effortless, put-together-at-the-last-minute sexiness.

Fittingly, the designer seemed to be inspired by a bohemian/gypsy archetype this season, as a number of turban-esque headpieces adorned the tops of models’ heads. Moreover, Ronson opted to show a slew of white-legged, lightly pleated pants (both monochromatic and pattered), a trend that seems to be just taking flight. I’m always drawn to Ronson’s signature floral patterns.  This season was no different, but the designer also showed some eye-catching outerwear – notably a short sleeved, loose-fitting taupe coat that looked like it had fall-staple stamped all over it.
