MARK FAST LONDON F/W 2010

Knitwear phenom and darling of the British fashion scene, Mark Fast showed his Fall/Winter collection to a packed house at the Topshop venue in London Fashion Week. Editors were scrambling, and some even took to sitting at the feet of their Front Row colleagues.  But the atmosphere was jovial Fast, who made waves last season by featuring non-straight sized models in his Spring show, recently launched a lower priced line called Faster that features affordable hosiery and body conscious dresses. That, paired with his BFC award nomination and forthcoming Topshop collaboration, only intensified the anticipation for this collection.

The show featured an all-star cast of models – both plus and straight sized, including Crystal Renn, Anouck Lepere, and Fast’s muse, plus-sized Hayley Morley. The collection itself was a departure for the designer. Sure, he still showed a variety of his signature body hugging, spanx-demanding minis, but he also showed more subtle draped pieces.

A few styling issues detracted from the overall presentation of the collection, but at the private cocktail party after the show, Fast employees and models showed just how adaptable and easily styled the pieces can be.
