Roberto Cavalli S/S 2011: Milan Fashion Week

This season, the Cavalli girl was a blend of tribal, rock ‘n’ roll, and hippie. Bell-bottoms, crochet, and fringe appeared among the separates, dresses and accessories. The show was redundant at first – the looks seemed to make their way down the runway with only slight variations.

Although I can’t put my finger on who the Cavalli customer is, I certainly must commend him for the exquisite detail apparent in his looks, especially those molded out of exotic skins.

The textured fabrics, patchwork, sequin, beads and crystal details may be difficult to pull off in the real world (especially fringe tops with lace-up pants), but Cavalli created some truly beautiful and wearable pieces.

Despite his ups and downs, Cavalli stayed true to himself and ignored the whims of trends. Clearly, sticking to his convictions has brought him success.
