Miu Miu S/S 2011: Paris Fashion Week

Rather than creating pieces that pleased customers and loyal followers, Prada designed a scattered collection that pandered to critics and bloggers.

In defense of Prada, it takes an incredibly talented designer to meld 30s glamour with silhouettes from the 60s and 70s to create a cohesive collection.

Appliquéd jackets with star motifs that were reminiscent of Viktor & Rolf’s Spring 2007 collection were a definite low point, but noteworthy looks included simple daywear with leather lattice necklines and pleated dresses in pops of bold color.

Skill aside, it is doubtful that either starlets or sophisticates will be clamoring for the more outrageous pieces.

While Miu Miu loyalists may be quick to overlook a mismatched collection simply because of their affinity for the brand, considering the success of Prada’s past two seasons for Miu Miu, five or ten good pieces are not enough to hold up a collection.
