Diane von Furstenberg Pre-Fall 2011

Love or hate the wrap dress, you can’t knock Diane von Furstenberg. A legend in the industry, she’s one of the few top designers that comes across as both approachable and innovative.  DVF has embraced Twitter, and most recently appeared alongside supermodel Iman on Andy Cohen’s Bravo show, Watch What Happens

She gabbed about topics ranging from the invention of the wrap dress, to what women over the age of 30 should never be caught wearing. For Pre-Fall 2011, the designer and DVF creative director, Yvan Mispelaere, went back to where it all started – the Seventies.

Right down to the pencil straight hair and oversized sunglasses, this season’s DVF collection is pure Seventies sophistication. Rusty oranges and yellows, maroons and deep greens, popping turquoise, and some neutral shades, were crafted into a streamlined, crisp, and clean daywear-focused collection.

There was no gown in sight, and cocktail dresses were casually styled with hats, boots, and scarves, while the signature wrap dresses were color-blocked–fitting for a laid-back, optimistic collection.
