Alexander Wang Spring 2012 Runway Review

It’s always about streetwear meets the comfort of flatteringly casual, athletic-inspired looks at Alexander Wang. This season’s collection, inspired by motocross and BMX, was no different. Beginning with a slew of laser-cut mesh looks (including mesh pockets, which cleverly, the models were asked to put their hands in), the designer began working in color, something one doesn’t typically associate with Wang. The most successful non-neutral looks were done in a blue floral pattern for a series of sporty-chic outfits including a peplum finished cocktail dress and separates with oversized pockets.

The collection, once again, included killer accessories, notably pointy cut-out fish skin pumps. As for the bags, they weren’t my cup of tea, but they were certainly original – inspired by golf club bags they were mostly oversized and worn cross-body.
