Chloe Spring 2012 Runway Review

Clare Waight Keller, who succeeds Hannah MacGibbon as the creative director for Chloe, could not have had a more impressive first outing. Building off of the looks Phoebe Philo set into place and MacGibbon continued to try and develop, the collection was relaxed and feminine, but sophisticated. Few designers will push too strongly out of the safe and somewhat commercial zone for their first outing and while that held true for Keller, the designer’s show was a breezy delight. From the gorgeous vertical striped dress that opened to the rusty colored pleated one that closed, and with its short suits and embroidered flower pants in between, it was a stellar first collection.

The one note of caution? Keller should watch her back because Zara must be hard at work pouring over this utterly wearable and body-flattering collection as we speak.
