Rodarte Fall 2012 Runway Review

This season, the Mulleavy sisters’ collection was inspired by Australia and the influence of the landscape was particularly evident in the multitude of prints and textures. Tailored outerwear in geometric prints and stripes as well as fitted knit sweaters were particularly strong this season, and Schiaparelli-esque hands, after appearing on the DVF runway, made their way onto the Rodarte catwalk via two painterly gowns.

Though it’s clear Rodarte has veered into more commercial territory these past few seasons, the construction, detail, and originality – including the accessories (those embroidered and over-the-ankle cut-out pumps!) – remain truly impressive.
