Burberry Prorsum Fall 2012 Runway Review

This collection, called Town and Field, sought to blend the brand’s country roots with the city girls who now adore it. Beyond the obvious and expected outerwear focus, the brand highlighted separates, with t-shirts and cropped jackets shown alongside pencil skirts with a statement diagonal ruffle, and girlish notions like nipped-in waists, bows, and exaggerated hips. Most impressive was the use of texture and mixed fabrics in the outerwear with country tweet paired with the brand’s signature mac fabric, and it’s finally time to admit that the puffer jacket is back. In past seasons it seemed as if the brand missed the mark slightly with the collection, so this season’s return to the cool, eclectic, Burberry girl was a step in the right direction.
