Josh Goot’s Spring 2012 Collection is a Flower Garden on Acid

Stark baroque-style prints in classic black and white, dusty neons and an orange hue stripped straight from Nana’s wallpaper provide the backdrop for those fleshed-out florals. More traditional flower prints adorn classic black cocktail dresses and structured pencil skirts with so-gaudy-it’s-good symmetry, while last season’s roses this time loom and snake across the fabric like a flower garden on acid.

Echoes of last season also continue in Goot’s signature high collars and boyish lapels, but silhouettes are propelled even further into the future with asymmetrical skirts and excellent oversized bomber jackets. Clearly this collection would have been even more striking on the runway (Goot is among three designers who pulled out of fashion week at the last minute) but as far as two-dimensional viewings go, this one is pretty vivid.
