Versace Haute Couture Fall 2012 Returns to the Ritz, Debuts New Jewelry Line

The Fall 2012 Versace Haute Couture collection was particularly special for Donatella Versace. Not only did she debut a new jewelry line, but the show was presented in her late brother Gianni Versace’s favorite hotel, the Ritz Hotel in Paris (his last runway show was staged there just days before his 1997 murder in Miami); it was fittingly dazzling.

While sweeping floor length abstract patterned gowns with thigh-high slits commanded the most attention, each one of the 26 looks were Jennifer Lopez-style showstoppers. While the singer may not have been front row, plenty of other stars, including Pierce Brosnan, Milla Jovovich, Elizabeth Banks, Jessica Alba, and Christina Hendricks, were.

There's no doubt that these pieces are tailor made for svelte red carpet bodies with each one designed to be tight at the waist and nearly all of them boasting bustier tops (many finished with leather) and crystal embroidery. As for the couture jewelry collection, it consists of 16 hand-sculptured rings set with precious stones including diamonds, yellow diamonds, emeralds, sapphires, amethysts, aquamarines, and citrine gemstones.
