TREND: CAT MANIA

High fashion kitty tops? We’ve come a long way from the kindergarten schoolteacher animal sweater.

For Fall 2009, designers take inspiration from the mysterious and potentially fatal species, transforming the cat into gorgeous, wearable creations. From patchwork outlines of lioness silhouettes to printed suits in cheetah patterns, the cat is back and there is nothing subtle about its return.

Vivienne Westwood Red Label sews a friendly lion onto a knit look that covers from head to toe.

Miss Sixty creates a rock ‘n’ roll edge with a cheetah print blouse, matching leggings and leather accessories.

Elegantly native, Mui Mui tailors a pencil skirt in a cheetah print, concealing the torso with a barely-there fur stole.

DKNY adds a kick to the corporate ladies’ kitty look with a chic dress layered with black accessories.

Kristina Ti designs cute, little knitted hats with sweet kitty ears for a playful look.

Ahead of the cat trend mania, Verrier debuted a sweet little kitty on a delicate tank for Spring 2009.

With a variety of choices to pick from including sexy prints, sweet kitty drawings and grown up 80’s animal sweaters, there are plenty of ways to add the trend to your wardrobe this fall. Me? I’m more of a dog person.
