The designer will be honored later this month with an exhibit...

One of the coolest fashion-related experiences I’ve had was attending the post-Spring/Summer 2010 Diane Von Furstenberg dinner at the designer’s Meatpacking District store. The dinner was catered by Indochine, and filled with a who’s who in the fashion industry (including Rachel Zoe and her hubby, Hamilton South,  Lynn Tesoro of the HL Group, and Italian Vogue editor-in-chief Franca Sozzani), making for some of the best people-watching I’ve seen to date.

The highlight, however, was getting to meet Diane Von Furstenberg (who looks at least 10 years younger than her early sixties age). The designer has become iconic while remaining accessible, and has succeeding in appealing to a wide age and style demographic.

Now, Von Furstenberg is being honored later this month with her first major retrospective,  which will take place in Moscow. Titled “Journey of a Dress,” the 6,000 square foot exhibit is slated to include original works by Andy Warhol, Francesco Clemente, Ann Duong, Helmut Newton, Horst, some of DVF’s personal artifacts, and about 50 of the Belgian designer’s dresses.

The exhibit is being curated by Vogue’s editor at large André Leon Talley and an opening party is scheduled for October 30th. Following the event, the exhibit is slated to run through November 21st at the Manezh exhibition hall. Here's to hoping the exhibit comes to New York City post-Russia!
