Gossip Girl, Calvin, and Lacrioix

Word on the block is that fashionista Victoria Beckham may be making an appearance on an upcoming episode of the CW cult-fave Gossip Girl. Reportedly, the show’s star, Blake Lively, and the show’s costume designer, Eric Daman, came to VB’s Spring/Summer 2010 presentation.  The starlette used her charm to convince VB to make a cameo. Filming is slated to take place in New York City on Wednesday, October 21st for the celebrity designer’s scenes.

Also taking place in New York City will be the men’s runway show for the Calvin Klein Fall 2010 Collection next February. The collection will be shown on the ground floor of Calvin Klein’s 39th Street headquarter office, where Calvin Klein women’s wear designer Francisco Costa has been showing his collection for the second time since CFDA’s 2009 Menswear Designer of the Year, Italo Zucchelli, showed his collection for the label during the Fall 2009 season. Zucchelli noted in a statement – “I  felt  very  welcomed  and  I am looking forward   to  doing  it  again.  As Calvin  Klein is the quintessential  American  brand  with  a significant European base,  I  think that it's an important statement of relevance that we are able to show the men's collection in these two very important global fashion capitals.”

As for something less quintessentially American, Hassan bin Ali al-Nuaimi, the nephew of the ruler of Ajman, is said to be inches away from acquiring Christian Lacroix. If his bid goes through al-Nuaimi would like to turn Lacroix into a total lifestyle brand for the richest folks in the world (ie no H&M we’re guessing). Nuaimi told Reuters that the idea is not to focus on fashion by itself, but on different activities in leisure “private jets, hotels, high-quality yachts, palaces, and interior decoration. We will focus on very exclusive areas and don't want to sell his name cheap in the market.”
