Jimmy Choo, Lady Gaga, and Steve Madden

As if she didn’t have enough on her plate with the Jimmy Choo for H&M launch, Tamara Mellon, the founder and president of Jimmy Choo, has just unveiled a limited edition capsule collection of shoes, bags, and small accessories as part of the charity Project PEP.  PEP stands for post-exposure prophylaxis - a medication that, in most cases, stops HIV from taking hold in the body if it is administered within 72 hours of exposure.

Twenty-five percent of net sales of the PEP line are going to be donated to the Elton John AIDS Foundation. The collection will be available at Jimmy Choo stores worldwide, as well as at retailers like Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, and Nordstrom, beginning on November 4th. Prices range from $90 to $900.

In other fashionable news, pant-less queen Lady Gaga will be handed, by Marc Jacobs, the Stylemaker Award at the 13th annual Accessories Council Excellence Awards. Diane von Furstenberg, Tomas Maier of Bottega Veneta, and Blake Mycoskie of Tom’s Shoes will also be honored at the event, which will be taking place on Monday, November 2nd at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City.

From original fashions to more of a knock-off territory, Steven Madden is designing a women’s fashion apparel line, which will be licensed and marketed by L'Koral Industries. The line is described, according to Crain’s, as “having a bohemian flare.” It’s slated to hit department stores in the spring of 2010.  Will the designs be blatant knock-offs of high-end designers, like many of Steve Madden shoes are? Let's hope for something more original.
