The pairing is different than last season...

Black is back, but it’s not alone. Black and white are all over Pre-Fall 2010 lookbooks in luxurious and modern collections. The pairing is different than last season, not embracing the geometric prints that were so popular in 2009.

These looks are decadent in drapy solids and fur embelishments. Designs were unique and fashion-forward, which really showcased the contrasting colors. Clean backgrounds and models in motion were also used to portray the severity of the looks with wearability and feminine styling.

A sleek white princess seam dress with black piping showed off a sophisticated look from Moschino.

Chic, Asian inspiration was implied with Alexander Wang’s black and white ensemble.

Never underestimate Parisian glamour...Lanvin’s look is flawless but not animal friendly in an off-white white pencil skirt, off-white fur jacket and black ear muffs.

Black and white prints from top to bottom prevail in this carefree look from Vionnet.

Yves Saint Laurent, always moving forward in fashion with a column fur skirt, asymmetrical white blouse, and fabulous accessories.

Viktor and Rolf are soft, elegant, and playful in loose trousers, a wrap blouse, and drapey jacket.

Black and white combinations are set to be a major look for Pre-Fall, so get those stored staples ready for another season Try adding a few new pieces to update those basic staples and take your look into the next decade.
