Mounted in Frida Giannini’s hometown, Gucci’s Cruise Show was shown, this year, in the garden of the seventeenth-century Villa Aurelia in Rome. The showing coincided with the 70th anniversary of the opening of Gucci’s Via Condotti store in the Italian city.

The garments had a clear seventies jet-set vibe to them mixed with a chic rock-n-roll twist that had all the models looking like they were about to dash off for a glamorous weekend in Capri – which, whether you love or hate this collection, is a big part of what resort is all about.

The collection featured a wide color palette that included camel, orange, white, teal, and some touches of python. Giannini said she drew her inspiration from Talitha Getty for the long, colorful, flowing dresses she showed, from Lee Radziwill for the proper banded coats, and from Jane Birkin for the tiny thigh-high smocks trimmed with broderie anglaise.
