The Spring 2013 runways were awash with sheer fabrics and transparent numbers, and who didn’t immediately spot that cool Perspex handbag trend decorating the arms of our favourite Fashion Week models at shows such as Burberry Prorsum? The see-through trend can make for such a cool fashion statement this season, but how exactly should we be wearing it? Let’s take a look at the London Fashion Week runways to pinpoint the top three ways to wear sheer and see what the great British high street is currently offering as a more affordable alternative.
Temperley London played the romance card with floor length sheer skirts in soft, floaty fabrics. ASOS does a great take on this trend with its cream White Pepper maxi skirt (£52).
Designer Simone Rocha may have introduced the trendy Perspex heeled brogue, but it’s most certainly British actress, Helen Mirren (above) who’s most recently been famed for fronting this trend. After appearing in what has been described as "Perspex stripper shoes" at the premiere of the movie Red 2, opinion has been divided on the trend, but nonetheless, sales have increased due to media attention. Does this mean that it’s really okay for us to wear hooker-style shoes? If you're still a little scared, then opt for a slightly less in-your-face version, such as Boohoo’s Rhianna mesh Perspex heel boots (£35).
See-Through Jewellery and Accessories
From bags to necklaces and even socks, the high street is loving this trend. Try out ASOS’ See-Through ankle socks (£2.50) which completely scream Temperley London.
