Street Style at New York Fashion Week Fall 2011

There’s no better time to strike a pose on the sidewalk than New York Fashion Week! With all eyes on the collections showing this week in New York, fashion photographers are lining the streets, eager to catch a glimpse of stylish passersby as they shuffle between the tents at Columbus Circle.

Long, flowing skirts and dresses were a staple as Fashion Week kicked off, despite the frigid temperatures in New York. These stylish pedestrians proved there’s nothing frumpy about covering yourself from your head to your toes! Paired with sunglasses, these lengthy hemlines are a whimiscal addition to a very serious fashion event.

Much to PETA’s disdain, fur seems to find its way into every New York Fashion Week. These ladies bundled up in fur (let’s hope it’s faux) to show a modern and a retro spin on the trend. To the left, a show attendee layers on chocolate tones to create a lush modern look, and on the right, a dramatic black fur collar gives just a touch of glamour to an otherwise simple look.

Don’t expect anyone at Fashion Week to show up to the tents in a pair of chinos. From wide leg to harem, pants were in style in a big way! Be it in a classic burlap shade or royal blue, these slacks were anything but simple.

Tights and booties were the perfect accessories for a figure flattering skirt, no matter what the shade. To the left, business casual with a hint of sex appeal in monotone grays. To the right, a cream skirt pops against a wall of black. In both, these ladies’ legs look sky high, thanks to matching their tights with their booties!
