Vanessa Traina Launches All Black Capsule Collection for Maje

The Barneys launch of Vanessa Traina‘s capsule collection for French label Maje was a star-studded affair. The it-girl (and daughter of Danielle Steele) was surrounded by industry friends like Joseph Altuzarra and Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen to help celebrate her 14-piece collection inspired by 90s minimalism. With pieces priced upwards of $155, the collection marks a new venture for Traina, who has often appeared in the label’s campaigns.

The collection is entirely black, which Traina says came from the “idea of a seasonless collection, something that you’d want to buy now and wear beyond spring. I really wanted to make pieces that could slip seamlessly into anyone’s wardrobe.” It’s mainly comprised of easy separates such as blazers, silk and lace camisoles, and black trousers. Traina told Vogue.com, “It’s really cool because we initially started with doing a flat, and then I just thought it would be cool if we stuck a heel on it. So it’s just a sandal design.”

The collection is the first collaboration for Maje, which is currently sold at Barneys. The label has plans to open a store on Bleecker Street this fall. We can’t wait to get our hands on the French label!
