Forum Street Style: Breton Stripes and Brights

This week, the Fashion Spot forum members sported lots of striped ensembles, and color wise they traveled along a wide spectrum from whites and creams to brights to perennially chic black and navy.

Lapin de Lune, frickys, Monita

In the UK, Lapin de Lune made her simple basics (a striped top from H&M and a black maxi skirt from Primark) look chic and simple in the best possible way. Her semi-undone topknot and a hint of red lipstick are the perfect complement to the look.

With the outfit shown above, frickys emulated a smoky color palette. Her sheer white top with grey swirls is by Amen, she customized her jeans to get the same smoke and ash effect, and she broke up the neutrality of the colors with a yellow patent H&M clutch and mustard-colored pumps from Zara.

Monita looked bright and lovely in a yellow and white striped three-quarter sleeve dress by H&M and a floppy back hat from a local market in Antwerp.

lafindesiecle, AiryFairy, frickys

“Me ‘n’ my mama at MoMa! Accidentally matching – she showed up in stripes too and we were both so embarrassed!” lafindesiecle captioned when she posted this picture. It just goes to show that a simple striped shirt looks good on women of all ages. For a day at the museum with her mother, lafindesiecle wore an H&M shirt, Zara midi-length skirt, brown lace up boots from Aldo and a vintage woven belt.

AiryFairy, a fan of bold and vibrant hues, paired her colorful H&M Garden Collection dress with bright pink Dolce Vita wedges and a turquoise necklace from Etsy.

Frickys does a great job mixing complementary colors without overdoing it. She donned her cream-colored rosette top by American Apparel once more, tucking it into a royal blue mini skirt from Zara. Her lemon yellow H&M clutch provided a punch of primary color, and black tights with a garter detail brought an unexpected element of flirtatious fun to the ensemble (in addition to her already bare shoulder).

luckyme, Frenger, justlikesushi

“You look like a rock star!” softgrey commented upon seeing luckyme’s edgy ensemble. Luckyme’s purchases in the Secret Shopaholics thread make it obvious that she’s got an enviable wardrobe, but it’s always nice to see how she puts everything together. In the above image, luckyme sports a combination of Sacai, Dries Van Noten, and Marni items.

In Norway, Frenger wasn’t wearing a traditional springtime look, but who says traditional is always the best way to go? She looked chic while strolling down the street wearing an Isabel Marant navy jacket with black leather piping, a striped A.P.C. sweater, skinny black Cheap Monday jeans, Ettore Adriano loafers, a Marc by Marc Jacobs bag and Dior sunglasses.

Justlikesushi played it cool in the Netherlands, wearing an H&M maxi dress and an H&M trend sweater. Necklaces and a bracelet by Gypsy Warrior give the outfit some additional edge.
