If there was anything to be learned from the recent brightly printed, ruffled, and beaded Dior Cruise Collection, it was that this season will be all about color and tiered ruffles.

Celebrities have been sporting touches of ruffles for some time now and they look great in moderation. Subtle ruffles in clothing and accessories can refresh an outfit by adding a touch of femininity.

Sarah Michelle Geller wore a beautiful, tiered-ruffle, metallic, champagne-colored dress to the American Film Institute Fest a few months ago, and last night stars from Jennifer Lopez to Leighton Meester showed-off tiered ruffles at the Dior Cruise Collection.

If you’re looking to sport the retro-feminine ruffle look yourself, wonderfully crafted pieces can be found, this season, over at Milly. The Milly Strapless Ruffle dress ($374), which is cinched at the waist to accentuate the body’s curves comes in a beautiful green and the overall look is very similar to Meester’s stunning Dior number.

Ruffles are even making their way to handbags this season. Dior’s ‘Gipsy’ Ruffles Large Bag ($1,950), has beautifully layered, tiers of leather ruffles.

Bathing suits and shoes are getting spiced-up with the delicate, feminine touch as well.

If ruffles don’t suit your fancy, color is popping up everywhere from bold jewelry to tie-dye fabrics and metallic accessories.

TDM Design’s ‘Maison Sun’ Tie-Dye Scarf ($125) is a perfect way to incorporate color into your look if you favor a more traditional, monochromatic palette.

Incorporating what is perhaps some Balenciaga-gladiator inspiration, L.A.M.B’s ‘Georgina’ Open Toe Pump is a great complement to a flirty summer dress.

Finally, a sure-fire option is Kenneth Jay Lane, who can always be counted on for unique, big, bold pieces.
