Year in Review: Top 10 Fashion Trends of 2011

2011 had some fantastic trends (long skirts and palazzo pants), some surprising ones (backpacks), and some that just won’t go away (I'm eyeing you, fur vests, studs, and leopard). Here’s a look at some of the year’s top fashion trends.

Palazzo Pants

Legs got some breathing room in 2011 with the palazzo pant trend.

Boot Leg Pants

Just as jeans and menswear-inspired suiting were getting as tight and skinny as they possibly could, the boot leg had a comeback.

Leopard

Whether confined to accessories or worn head-to-toe, leopard didn’t budge an inch from its place as a top trend in 2011.

Arm parties, AKA stacked bracelets, were rampant this year thanks in large part to The Man Repeller.

Don’t have, don’t like, or can’t afford the omnipresent Proenza Schouler PS1? Don't fret, there are countless other satchels if you’re looking to get in on this still-going-strong trend of 2011.

Brands ranging from Tory Burch to The Row came out with backpacks this year, and from the looks of the Spring 2012 runways, they won’t be going anywhere next year.

Peter Pan Collar

Favored by countless celebrities including Alexa Chung and Hailee Steinfeld this is one adorable trend that could stand to stick around through 2012.
