Forget white only for summers, Fall 2012 will be all about winter white, blanket coats, and fur…here's to staying warm!
Fur Sleeves
Fur was all over the runway and appeared everywhere from the expected (coats, shawls, scarves, stoles), to the unexpected (skirts, rings, shirt hems) this season. One of the most surprisingly recurring places for fur to appear, however, was on sleeves and Jason Wu, Herve Leger, and BCBG were among those that did it best.
Leather
Jewel Toned Prints
From Timo Weiland to Peter Som it was all about deep tones for this season's prints.
High-Shine Fabrics
Futuristic and attention grabbing, a number of designers including DVF, Alexander Wang, and Rag & Bone opted for high-shine fabrics.
Head-to-Toe Florals (Still!)
Suno
Just because it's no longer Spring/Summer doesn't mean that head-to-toe florals will be disappearing. They ranged from the somewhat wearable at Suno to the very difficult to pull off at Rag & Bone.
Blanket Coats
Seen on a number of major runways including Donna Karan, Rag & Bone, and Michael Kors, blanket coats are perfect for wintertime dress.
Peter Pan Collars
Already popular among celebrities, peter pan collars show no signs of slowing down. They appeared on runways including the ones at Rachel Antonoff, Victoria Beckham, and Tory Burch.
Winter White
Cushnie et Ochs
Who says you can't wear white after Labor Day? Next season will have a big chunk of winter white thanks to, among others, Cushnie et Ochs, Proenza Schouler, Alexander Wang, and Derek Lam.
Military
Tommy Hilfiger
A running military inspiration made for a slew of tailored looks at the likes of Marc Jacobs, Tommy Hilfiger, and Prabal Gurung.
Below-the-Knee Bottoms
Things were relativly conservative for the most part this season with bottoms often hitting below the knee. See Rachel Zoe, Tory Burch, and Marc by Marc Jacobs.
