Designers like Isabel Marant, Alexander Wang, Balenciaga, and Marc Jacobs want you to hit the street with, for lack of a better term, sporty street style. Meant for the fashion-forward girl who likes to rock a little edge with her look, this spring's street style is fun, fast, and anything but generic. For his Spring 2012 collection, Alexander Wang showed off a more gritty clothing line that was athletically inclined and well suited for the concrete jungle. Wang’s collection included mesh filled apparel with pockets made of netting, racing suits, body sculpted knits, and color-blocked leggings. Standout items included perforated PVC jackets with matching leather trim, as seen below. And because safety is always a must, Wang made sure to accessorize his models with floral print motorcycle helmets, which offset the graphic prints. Other accessories included perforated white and black leather head scarves and pointy shoes in fish scale texture. To pull off this look without having to look like an urban warrior, incorporate stand out pieces like a neon anorak or a fun accessory like a mesh backpack to your outfit. No BMX required.

Alexander Wang Mesh Short Sleeve Tee
One of my favorite pieces from Wang’s spring collection is this white mesh short sleeve tee. The knitted mesh is sturdier than usual, mimicking sleek perforated leather, but up-close reveals to be a more comfortable material. Because this top comes in spring's versatile white, it pairs easily and is easy to layer over. Wear it underneath a black blazer for a polished look or put on a leather jacket for added street edge. Hot details like snap closure buttons and cut-out banding at the back provide for sexy accents. This mesh top is casual enough to pair with denim cutoffs and, most definitely, sexy enough paired with leather leggings.

Ash Bowie Wedge Sneaker
One of my favorite parts of the street style trend is the comfort aspect. Enter Ash's Bowie Sneaker, which comes in several hot colors like coral. For a more subdued look, go for these wedge sneakers in the gray hue. Made from patchwork suede and canvas, these kicks are not meant for going to the gym. These platform sneakers will liven up any outfit including a floral dress or the standard black leggings. Not only are they super-stylish, their 2.5" inch hidden wedge heel will give you that extra height, without making it look like you tried.

Topshop Knitted Mesh Sleeve Dress
No need to break bank on this spring trend. Affordable options include Topshop’s Knitted Mesh Sleeve Dress, a gray body-con dress with contrasting highlighter yellow fluorescent sleeves made out of knitted mesh. The body-con silhouette is super flattering and the neon sleeves are right on trend with this season's fluorescent palette. Work this dress with flats or high-tops for the ultimate street-style look, or pair it with strappy heels for a night on the town.
