Posh Tots: Closed Set with Julie Bensman

I was in town for my friend’s bridal shower and bachelorette party (ironically), but other activities included lunch with a publicist and his 1-year-old, babysitting my 2-year-old niece, and staying with my friend who happens to have one of the cutest 9-month-olds I’ve ever seen.

Between music classes and trips to the playground, I started warming up to the idea of life with (someone else’s) baby. People give you their seats on the subway, pureed blueberries replace buzzing Blackberries, and the opportunities to spoil a wee one are endless. Case in point? The closet. It’s quite possible that my niece has better style than I do – and I’m more than happy to be the aunt that keeps her the most stylish kid on the block. The picks below are a chic place to start for spring:

CrewCuts Organdy Bow Dress in Checkerboard Print, $88

Oh, J. Crew. Is there nothing you can’t do? Not only is this the perfect party dress, but it’s also machine washable and features an elastic belt. Do they have it in my size?

Small Frye Carson Shortie Boot, $128

I’ve seen the havoc my niece can wreak on a jungle gym. These boots are sturdy, yet stylish. (I should know, I’ve had my own Frye boots for years)

Estella Feathered Headband, $52

Ok, so this is a little impractical, but isn’t that what aunts are for? Not just for playing dress up, this bejeweled piece is pretty and polished enough to wear anytime.

Stella McCartney Lemon Print Hooded Raincoat, $220

This print is so sweet and the colors are demure, a refreshing departure from the tacky neons and flashy colors I’m seeing everywhere else. Let it rain!
