Call it recession-minded design, but this year's crop of military looks was less flamboyant and more austere than in recent years. Rather than a show of conspicuous epaulettes, fringe, and an overflow of gold buttons, the traces of regimental style can be seen in color, details, accessories and outerwear. Don't get us wrong, gold buttons and large collars (with and without fur) were present, just in a slightly more serious way. And it wasn't just American military style that was celebrated, a taste of Eastern Bloc fare was present as well.
