Too many people complain that the legendary January sales on the great British high-street are just filled with rubbish that we neither want nor need, but realistically, they couldn't be more wrong. Yes, there are a lot of unwanted items to sift through, but if you have the time and patience, you will most certainly find a bargain.
Unfortunately, the very best steals are already gone, from the moment the department stores’ doors open on Boxing Day, the professional sales hunters dive in and snap up all of the very best items. You can rest assured, however, that there are still quite a few gems to be found, and maybe most intriguingly, you can even pick up some Spring 2013 trends at discounted prices amongst all of that sales stock. Here’s our pick of the online sale items to wear well into the new year.
SS13 is all about that ankle cleavage, as seen on an array of catwalks from Prada to Miu Miu. ASOS currently has a wide selection on sale, so you’ll be spoilt for choice. We really like their creped cropped trousers that are still available in both red, and a more autumnal purple, costing £12 down from £30.
After shows such as Louis Vuitton and Tom Ford channelled a Sixties vibe, the thick bold stripe is set to be big again, so catch on to this trend early with River Island’s monochrome striped vest, with a reduced price tag of only £10.
Daisies are also set to be a prominent SS13 trend, and we think that ASOS’ red Cross My Heart dress by Trollied Dolly reduced to £35 from £55 would be perfect for the summer… yeah, yeah, it feels like a million years from now, but you’ll thank us for it later!
So, yes, we’re hampering on and on about this 60s vibe, and we’ve managed to find yet another piece that wouldn’t have looked out of place on those Louis Vuitton escalators in the form of Topshop’s embellished Skater dress. It’s a definite bargain due to the fact that it originally retailed at £160 and is now £45.
