Live life in 3D this spring! Making way for supersized sparkle and out-of-this-world embellishment, the minimalist moment was put on pause to bring the more and the merrier. That was the motto that decorated prints, patterns and luxe fabrics, setting a shimmering stage for the warmer weather ahead. Three-dimesional florets, larger-than-life crystals and bejeweled beading were appliqued on entire looks that offered texture and volume for even the simplest of silhouettes. Each more brilliant than the next, these looks proved just how versatile intricate jewels, gems and beads can be — dreamy, delicate and ethereal, or edgy, bold and contemporay. Either way, the razzle dazzle of it all was awe-inspring.
There were blooms of the garden variety at Matthew Williamson, Giambattista Valli, Marni and Dolce & Gabbana, perfectly placed plumage at Louis Vuitton and Erdem, and clusters of paillettes at Vera Wang, Prada and Dior. Wallflowers need not apply.
