It's getting hot in here… so it's time to figure out what the heck to wear to work. Bring on the bathing suits for days off at the beach, but for those of us sweating it out this summer in professional attire, here are a few outfit ideas to get you thinking comfy, yet chic for the cubicle.
Maxi Dress the Way You Want
Maxi dresses basically feel like wearing a nightgown. You can wear with flat sandals or wedges. Add a polished touch with a blazer, but relaxed touch with sneakers. If you dare opt for the sneaker trend, make sure your kicks don't look too athletic. Think classic, platform or a bright color or print, not running shoes. The blazer will structure the look, keeping the style professional and functional against the office air conditioner and the sneakers are unexpected, playful and, oh yes, comfortable.
A plain maxi can be turned into many different looks, so wear it on the weekend too or pack for vacation. The possibilities are limitless.
Heather Maxi Tee Dress, $142.00 at Shopbop // Alfani Three-Quarter-Sleeve Textured Blazer, $59.99 at Macy's // Free People Tulum Statement Collar, $198 at Free People // Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star Core Ox, $50.00 at Piperlime // NYX Butter Lipstick, $6.00 at Nasty Gal.
Dresses are where it's at. They breathe, can be styled so many different ways, and this particular style is ultra comfy. Wear with a strappy shoe to make it feel less casual. This look is easy to transition from day to night, so pack a stilletto and some jewelry to easily transition your look for after hours.
These pants fit loose on the leg and are surprisingly easy to wear. They are lighter than a jean, comfier than a normal dress pant, and are far less boring. Wear with a T-shirt or blouse you already own in a sold color and cute sandals (almost any style works!) and bam, new outfit. They'll work with what you already own and require no leg shaving.

High-Waisted Midi Skirt & Crop Top
Midi skirts hit below the knee. This hemline has been making its way back into the mainstream and gives a retro feel. Try the trend in pleats for a loose fit that draws attention to your waist or a more curve-hugging style. Feeling fashion forward? Pair with a crop top, but keep it PG. Don't show skin, unless your workplace is super, super informal. Keep it classy and opt for a crop top that hits low enough to meet your high-waist skirt and shows off your figure without actually showing anything.
