Think Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness

In the United States, 12.4 percent of women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. That averages to about 1 in every 8 women. To raise breast cancer awareness, some of our favorite brands are going pink for the entire month of October. Stella McCartney, for instance, is launching a BCA lingerie set for the second year in a row and donating a percentage of the proceeds to three different breast cancer charities. As part of her campaign, she’s introducing a post-double mastectomy compression bra called “Louise Listening,” named after her mother, Linda Louise McCartney, who died of breast cancer in 1998.

“Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women all over the world,” McCartney wrote on her website. “While most people are aware of the terrible disease, many forget to take the steps to make the effort to detect it at its early stages, so I designer [sic] a set to remind women to consider their health and visit their doctor regularly. Not only does this set look and fit great, it also serves as an important healthy reminder.”

If you want to fight for the cause, you can shop the breast cancer awareness products in the gallery above or donate directly to your foundation of choice, like the National Breast Cancer Foundation or the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
