Do You Dare to Flare? The 70s Trend Has Made a Comeback

It’s time to dust off those old clothes your mum wore as a teenager, because flares are officially making a comeback. The voluminous trend was all the rage in the 60s and 70s and, just when you thought they were gone for good, bell pants and sleeves have burst back onto the scene.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia 2015 saw a whole host of celebrities, bloggers and models alike flaunting the revived look, both on and off the runway. Whether it was Ellery, who set the precedent on opening night with its spectacular runway show, or Aje‘s toned-down version of the trend, flares of all sizes made appearances, confirming the trend is back once again.

This time around they won’t just be limited to denim jeans, though, with wool, lace and delicate silks proving strong when it comes to the modern-day flare. Now that the style caters to so many different personalities, feel free to say goodbye to those skinny jeans. This season is all about getting loose. Loose-bottomed pants, that is.
