RACHELALEX Challenges Seasonal Fashion Conventions this Winter

Sydney-based label RACHELALEX doesn’t really care for retail and consumer expectations over the colder months, playing with colour and vibrant prints rather than sticking to dull monochrome for its Autumn 2015 collection.

Florals, which are typically tailored to seasons like spring and summer, are a major part of the collection which is based on terrariums. The label’s designers, sisters Rachel and Alex Sims, headed to the Sydney Flower Markets at Flemington to create over 40 terrariums which were then photographed to draw inspiration for original illustrations.

“The collection looks towards the idea of little worlds, and, if we could just for a minute escape the world we are currently in, where would we like to escape to,” Rachel tells theFashionSpot.

And while Alex tells us that, “Colour has always been key to RACHELALEX and the brand’s identity,” the label still goes down a moodier route that its previous debut collection, with darker tones of blues and greens. At least this way the high-end label can cater to both hemispheres with its trans-seasonal ranges.

Pretty smart, if you ask us. Check out the entire collection in our gallery below, and shop it for yourself over at the new RACHELALEX online store here.
