20 Bold, Runway-Approved Color Combos to Try Now

On a normal day, the streets of Paris are a sea of black and white. Clued-in fashion gals strut the pavement (and cobblestones) in perfectly tailored, un-basic basics. Fashion trends are passed over; ostentatious, logo-filled outfits are unforgivable social gaffes. Uniform dressing reigns supreme; women practically drip with stylish insouciance.

During fashion week, it’s a little different. Street style stars from across the globe flock to Paris to take in some of the month’s most hotly anticipated runway collections — and, incidentally, model the trends du jour. Paris’ Fall 2017 showgoers bought into the color craze (again). Bright, bold, (primary) colorblocked ensembles made their way to their seats. No hue was off-limits. Pops of silver, lavender, yellow, crimson, magenta, aqua — we could go on, but we won’t — dazzled the cameras.

Per usual, designers had their ears to the streets. Runways from New York to Paris anticipated — and catered to — the fashion crowd’s love of Crayola-box brights. Designers at Acne Studios, Calvin Klein, Oscar de la Renta, Roksanda and more spun the color wheel in new and inventive ways. (And yet many wound up favoring the same color trends and pairings, go figure.) The general takeaways? Bright outerwear and boots are for grown-ups, blue and orange are spring’s It couple and you’re no one if you don’t own a pair of super saturated trousers.

Click through the slideshow below to take in 20 of the season’s punchiest color trends and color combinations as told by the runways. Adjust your shopping accordingly.
