These 12 Colors Are Set to Dominate the Spring 2018 Runways

The masters of shade have spoken. According to the Pantone Color Institute’s seasonal Color Trend Report, yellows and citrusy limes will continue to dominate the runways in Spring 2018. Like 2017’s Color of the Year (Greenery), these bright, vivacious hues exude hope and joy. They also indulge our desire for shameless self-promotion.

“There’s no question using that bright color really is an attention getter,” Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, told WWD“Regardless of what industry, yellow is a beacon of light. If you’re going to put something on your web site or in a window display, you know yellow is going to draw the eye. And nobody gets ignored wearing yellow.”

The color forecasters also predict a rise in gender-neutral shades: reds derived from tomatoes and chilies (yum), green-leaning teals, chocolatey browns and “wonderfully imaginative” purples. Click through the slideshow below to see the complete list of soon-to-be-trending shades. (Note: the first 12 make up the “fresh and exciting” new-and-now group, the final four belong to the “Spring 2018 Classic Color Palette,” a separate set of neutrals that “are really core basics.”)
