How to Make the Visible Bra Trend Work at Work

We never really gave the visible bra trend a chance in our workwear lookbook, but then Rihanna took New York Fashion Week by storm in the look. And while RiRi is known for her head-turning fashion choices, this is one trend we think anyone can pull off. After all, it’s not a secret that women wear bras—and considering the cost of lingerie, a bra is part of your wardrobe you should be able to show off.

Of course, Rihanna is hardly breaking ground in wearing a visible bra. Madonna, the visible bra pioneer, has been sporting the look since the 80s. It’s a tradition that has been carried on by stars like Gwen Stefani and Sarah Jessica Parker, both on and off the screen.

The key to making the visible bra appropriate at work is to pair it right. Saint Laurent’s Spring 2018 ready-to-wear collection made a huge case for the visible bra and teamed it with everything from frills to goth overlays. From Louis Vuitton to Maison Margiela, everyone seems to have found a way to make the visible bra look chic and put together.
