TREND: SUBTLE ECCENTRICITY

Have you heard the news? Ladylike looks are in for Fall 2010, but that doesn’t mean clothes have to be stuffy or boring. Even a girl with a little class needs to express herself, and what better way to do so than with color, layering, mixing prints, and standout accessories. Unexpected color pairing looked easy on the runways, and bright colors have never looked so natural. Dramatic, printed blouses and pencil skirts are inspiring, bright overcoats look chic, and slouchy trousers seem crisp and polished. These “ladies who lunch” are taking tea-time into a new, fashionable era, and they are doing it all without any skin baring pieces. Conservatism has never seemed so daring.

A gold, metallic top, painted, print skirt, and shiny overcoat create a dramatic look at Peter Som that still looks appropriate for meeting his parents.

Poppy red, olive green, and purple fur never blended together better than in this Oscar de la Renta look.

Do you have after-work drinks planned? Throw on this fabulous cocktail dress with an exaggerated circle skirt, by Jason Wu in a black and white print with oversized jacket.

Make a statement in this monochromatic red look by Carolina Herrera, complete with slouchy trouser pant, blouse, printed vest and hat.

A beanie hat, color blocked blouse, and windowpane, printed pant are effortless at TSE.

Quirky, colorful, ladylike numbers are fun and eclectic this season, so pick up that printed overcoat and boat-neck dress in metallic green and make a stand!
