The Modern Gentleman’s Guide To Late Spring

“When spring came, even the false spring, there were no problems except where to be happiest.  The only thing that could spoil a day was people, and if you could keep from making engagements, each day had no limits.  People were always the limiters of happiness except for the very few that were as good as spring itself.” – Hemingway, A Moveable Feast

The false spring loads my chamber every year.  It descends in late February, when every door and window in the house has been clamped shut since Thanksgiving.  For a few days (cruelly, usually on the weekend somehow) we get Southern Californian weather, and the sudden desire for ice cream. Spring comes on like a tantrum that follows the ice cream falling off a toddler’s cone, right before summer hits in June.

In preparation for picnics and warm days that turn into windy evenings, this is the perfect time for new jeans.  For most men, this means another trip to the same store for another pair of whatever color jeans you always buy.  I actually can’t argue with that – stick with what works for you.  However, add a fresh shade of demim that will stand as a notable new addition to your wardrobe.

This season, our friends at Luxotica have come up with a limited edition set of redesigned Wayfarers.  This year’s edition have a slimmer profile, snug fit and feature patterns from all different artists and designers including the iconic New York Subway map.
When the rains hit your skin, you might start to feel a little rejuvenated, and it’s easy to forget to take care of it. But it’s important to wear a face moisturizer with a small SPF value so that your sun-starved face doesn’t take in too much.
Make sure you enjoy the late spring, because summer is coming up fast.
