Forum Street Style: Seasonal Transitions

Fully immersed in the unpredictable weather of Spring, we’re cold one day and hot the next, but forum members are finding a happy medium wearing transitional outfits that hint at the warmth to come while covering up enough to feel comfortable in the current climate. Expose a little here, conceal a little there. Not a bad rule to live by.

frickys, VivaciousCohen, Liina

Frickys does a good job of looking sleek and chic in simple and versatile pieces from fast fashion resources. Here, she wore cropped, bright pink skinny pants from Zara with a sheer nude oversized blouse from American Apparel that she topped with a dark Zara blazer. The bag and shoes are also from Zara. Are you sick of hearing me say Zara yet? ‘Cause I’m not done by a long shot.

We had to show some love to VivaciousCohen this week because her Wildfox Couture red sparkle heart top is too cute (and not in an overly precious way) not to share. She toned down the blousy fit of the top with super slim-fitting Twiggy Karma James Jeans, and she offset the sweetness with Dolce & Gabbana suede platform wedge sandals.

Liina was laid back in a simple white tank top and brown high waisted shorts from BikBok worn over black tights. Her light denim shirt by One Teaspoon served as a welcome alternative to a jacket and a floppy black hat from H&M topped off the look.

toothfairy, frickys, La Vanguardia

Toothfairy got the transitional mix right, balancing warm and cold-weather pieces. The key pieces were her Etoile by Isabel Marant jacket and striped Isabel Marant mini skirt. A simple t-shirt from Cos kept the look casual, and H&M boots with bare legs left her covered up and exposed all at once.

Frickys took her striped Zara skirt out for another spin this week. Her top was from American Apparel once again, but instead of an oversize button-up, she wore their cropped mesh pullover with hand-sewn rosettes. Her vintage Moschino belt draped perfectly across the high waist of her skirt, and the clutch and boots are from Zara.

A big fan of colorblocking, La Vanguardia paired a bright orange skirt from Zara with a white and blue Zara blouse. She accessorized with additional blocks of color from her yellow Tory Burch Reva flats, her purple Hermes Birkin bag, and a turquoise Van Cleef & Arpels Alhambra necklace.

VivaciousCohen, Sonnytsunami, maffionista

We loved Taylor Tomasi Hill’s Burberry cow sweater during fashion week, and the Cancan cropped bulldog knit that VivaciousCohen wore this week is a great springtime alternative to that look. The knit is great for transition weather with its slightly bulky texture and lack of sleeves. Her Dolce Vita shearling boots are probably getting one of their last wears until autumn rolls around, but something tells me she’s not too sad about it.

Not quite ready to bare her legs for the season, Sonnytsunami wore American Apparel leggings under her Sonia by Sonia Rykiel dress. Irregular Choice booties and a simple blazer from Primark finished the look.

Maffionista offset her grey Dyrberg/Kern skinny jeans and red H&M Swedish Hasbeen sandals with an asymmetrical lightweight black blouse by H&M Trend. The grey jeans and black top give off a wintry vibe, but the sandals, red nails, and sunglasses suggest some springtime optimism.
