Love It or Hate It: Guys Weigh in on Summer’s Hottest Fashion Trends for Women, Part 2

Last week, we discovered guys like skinny jeans, long hair, and a sexy pair of high heels. That JNCOs went out of style in the 90s, bare legs are hot, but the bob is not, and that flatforms bare a striking resemblance to moon boots. We learned lipstick tastes weird but isn’t to be feared, and that words like “blue” and “white” pretty much sum up the extent of a guy’s knowledge on the nautical trend. Hey…no judgment here boys!

This week, more hilarity ensues as the guys dish on five new trends. Read on to hear what they have to say about everything from belly-baring crop tops to blinged-out fingernails and skirts that hit above the ankle.

Once again, let’s meet our panel of guys:

  • Drew: a 25-year-old accountant from North Carolina and a self-proclaimed sports fanatic.
  • Kenny: a 27-year-old nightlife enthusiast and Founder/CEO of newly launched deals website, Night Tap.
  • Jay: a 29-year-old actor who’s learned that honesty isn’t always the best policy, especially when it comes to critiquing a woman’s looks.
  • Paul: a 31-year-old bail agent who openly admits to his cluelessness when it comes to fashion.
  • Rafael: a 32-year-old fashion designer and stylish store manager at Just Cavalli.

1. Crop Tops – love ‘em or hate ‘em, and why?

Drew Sorry, not a fan. Crop tops are kind of hard to take seriously. I think the only time this is appropriate is for an 80s party.

Jay If she has the body for it, yeah. But some girls just don’t know their limits…

The Overall Verdict? If you’re confident in your bod and have been hitting the gym on the reg, a navel-revealing crop top can be a great way to show off your midriff during the summer. Just don’t get too 80s on us please.

2. Midi Skirts – write the first thing that comes to mind or craft your own definition.

Rafael Something you can wear to work and not feel like a slut in.

Paul WTF.

The Overall Verdict? Save your midi skirts for the office. Guys wanna see those legs, and this skirt just isn’t doing it for them this season. What will? A short skirt or a pair of Daisy Dukes. Shocker, we know.

3. Nail Art – what’s the first thing that pops into your head?

Jay  What “Men’s” club do you dance at again?? Hope I didn’t offend anybody, nah…yeah I do.

Drew Trash. I prefer real nails painted one solid color. Not into the whole glittery nail polish look.

The Overall Verdict? Ummm, we’re pretty sure this one speaks loud and clear. Nail art=not so sexy.

4. Floppy Hats – Love ‘em or hate ‘em, and why?

Jay Hate it, what the hell are you covering??? Just wear shades and grab a brush.

Kenny There are really only 2 places where this hat works: 1) at the beach and 2) at a horse race.

The Overall Verdict? Floppy hats can be nice, but you should probably think twice before rocking one. As for pogo balls, well, we’re not ruling out a comeback just yet.

5. Bright Eye Shadow – Love it or hate it, and girls’ eyes look prettiest when…

Paul Hate it. She looks like a clown! Girls’ eyes look prettiest when there’s something behind them (i.e. intelligence), and they’re focused on me.

Rafael – It’s alright in the right settings and in simple touches, but for everyday wear on the street? Definitely not. Girls’ eyes look prettiest when they don’t look like she has an abusive boyfriend cause she can’t do a smoky eye correctly!

The Overall Verdict? Beauty may be in the eye of the beholder, but not when it comes to bright eye shadow. Guys definitely aren’t digging this look. Sorry ladies, less really is more.
