Give this retro runway trend a spin this season.

If there was any lingering doubt that peplums would be one of the runway's most welcome trends,  Emma Stone put those to rest.

Marc Jacobs

Peplums are a fantastic way to work in a retro, feminine touch, while still coming across as festive when pulling together daytime or after-dark looks. Whether you opt for a peplum-accented fitted jacket, a peplum skirt, or a peplum-embellished dress, it's a wonderfully flirty touch, not to mention a welcome alternative to lace and other more commonplace girly retro touches.

While peplums tend to be figure flattering, it is a trend to stay away from if you're self-conscious about your waist as it will inevitably draw attention to that area. For everyone else, peplums offer the perfect subtle quirk, especially if you opt for a conservative hemline. Try out this trend for yourself with one of the options below.

1. Magaschoni Belted Peplum Jacket, $498;  2. Marc Jacobs Satin-Peplum Crepe Top, $895;  3. Versus Mixed-Fabric Peplum Dress, $1,725;  4. Aqua Klingon Peplum Skirt, $153.68
