Multi-owner vintage couture sale to take place on July 2nd

Christie’s, the legendary auction house, will be having their first ever multi-owner vintage couture sale in New York on July 2nd as part of their Christie’s Interiors sale.

In light of the recent passing of French couture master Yves Saint Laurent, the auction will include, as a tribute, clothing and jewelry spanning nearly every decade of Saint Laurent’s career.  Christie's couture specialist Laura Leyfer says that you see the progression of his career through the pieces and that all of the items are in excellent condition. Leyfer adds that the clothing and jewelry are relatively inexpensive, since they aren't new designs and have been worn.

Besides YSL, the auction will include such noted names as Christian Lacroix, Thierry Mugler, Balenciaga, Mainbocher, and Gianni Versace.

YSL designed Christian Dior dress from Fall/Winter 1958 (estimated selling price $1,000-1,500)

Yves Saint Laurent cut-out floral necklace from Spring/Summer 1990 (estimated selling price $1,000-1,500)

Items up for bid will include a 1958 Yves Saint Laurent for Dior dusty pink layered tulle evening dress with metallic pink and silver embroidery, Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche camel cable knit and a fox fur trim sweater from the 1970s similar to those favored by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, along with a lime green 1960s two-piece dress by Courrèges, a Roberto Capucci Roma cocktail dress, a late 1970s funky metal matching set of choker and ear-clips by Paco Rabanne, a Chanel crystal sautouir, and an Hermès alligator mini Kelly bag.
