Christina Hendricks: Beauty Look of the Week

Who: Christina Hendricks

Where: Out in New York

Why we like it: Many redheads shy away from color but this look is not only fresh and modern but a colorful twist on an everyday look. It’s part pin-up, part gamine, and completely wearable.

How to get it at home: To get a flawless base, which is key for any pin-up look, start with a medium coverage foundation, such as Illamasqua’s Skin Base $42, which gives a natural finish with buildable coverage. Next, cover any flaws with a creamy concealer, such as Laura Mercier’s Secret Camouflage $28, and don’t forget to cover areas that are often more red such as around the nose and the corners of the mouth. With your fingers, blend a small amount of NARS’ Cream Blush in Penny Lane $28, onto the apples of your cheeks. It’s clear that Christina has used a powder in her look, so if you’re after a more polished finish, apply a powder, such as Bare Escentuals’ Mineral Veil $20. If you like a less chalky finish, you can also leave out the powder for a dewy, more natural look. To get Christina’s heavy liner, opt for a gel formula, such as Bobbi Brown’s Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner $22, which allows for easy, more controlled application than a liquid. Next, apply just one coat of Urban Decay’s Lush Lash Mascara $20, which will add length and thickness without clumps. Finish off the look with YSL’s Rouge Pur Couture in 12 Coril Fauve $32 which is a glossy stain that gives you great color payoff with all the shine of a gloss.
