5 Ways to Rock the Summer Tweed Trend

Summer tweed is a lot more versatile than you might think. Here’s how you can work the hottest choice of fabric for spring into an array of different styles.

1) Androgyny

Jaeger proves that summer tweed is an excellent choice of fabric if you’re wanting to jump on the androgyny bandwagon. Despite its stereotypical girly pink hue, this tailored jacket (£250) is the perfect way to blur those gender rules.

2) Lady Like

The obvious style for summer tweed always comes in the form of a pretty little dress, and A Wear is currently doing this well with its lace insert tweed skater dress (£60). The dress has a certain Sixties feel about it, as the lace inserts add to that sheer panel effect and help you to rock yet another trend.

3) Rock Chic

Yes, it really does work in a rock chic way too! River Island has transformed some summer tweed into a biker style jacket complete with edgy zip (£70) — and in a bright lemon colour. This is one jacket that theoretically shouldn’t work, but somehow it does!

4) The Office

Tweed is quite typically associated with workwear and Missguided has brought this office look up to date by adding a peplum to a pencil skirt (£13.79). Now that most of us have finally figured out how to wear a peplum without the fear of looking frumpy, they’ve really taken off and are set to be around for quite some time.

5) Oh so Coco

Now, tweed will always conjure up images of Chanel no matter the season, so we had to include Dotty P’s coral tweed jacket (£45). We could see Gabrielle herself in this piece.
