CHANEL HAUTE COUTURE SPRING 2009

Images of a soft, delicate, pure woman crossed with a high-living Marie Antoinette-seque one came to mind when looking at the classic white and black or pure white-look only Chanel Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2009 collection.

With soft sheer details and delicate beading the collection – especially given the abundance of white – was stunningly angelic, with no shortage of detailing to catch the eye.

There were beautifully sculpted two-piece looks – of note a stripped skirt and top that perfectly molded around the model’s body. The German master even managed to pull-off a bride look – worn by Freja Beha Erichson – that eschewed a dress for pants. The look was paired with a sweeping train and a paper hair piece.

Speaking of the hair piece, the most awe-inspiring touch in the collection may well have been the dramatic accessories which included elaborate headdresses, flowers, and caps, all of which were made completely out of paper.
