Walking down the boardwalk...

The Kaiser really knows how to pick his locations. The show happened at this long stretch of sand outside Hotel Excelsior on the Lido:

What a beautiful setting. Supposedly the venue “conjures images of Luchino Visconti’s “Death in Venice” and early 1900's European nobility idly basking in the sun”.

You can check out the full collection at WWD. I much prefer this collection to the previous one shown in Miami.  Iit is much more romantic and cohesive. The wigs and the make-up also add to the Venetian, old European vibe.

If you look closely at the printed chiffon dresses, you can spot Coco Chanel’s birth sign and Venice’s emblem, the Lion. The printed pieces are the real standouts, and something that make this collection special.  I would love to see more of them instead of suits and more suits. The sunglasses used throughout the show also remind me of the masquerade Venetian eye masks, sans sequins and feathers - just normal glasses held on to the face.

The show opened with a parade of models (led by Tanya) walking down the ‘boardway’ barefooted, with pirate-like hats and cape, followed by Tatjana Patitz opening the show with Karl’s current favourite male model. Newcomer Madisyn Ritland closed the show.

Tibi Knotted-Waist Crepe Top, $275

A tangerine striped top not only incorporates the season's hottest color, but the tie-front silhouette works perfectly with maxi skirts and high waist pants.
