How to Distract from a Bad Haircut: Splitting Hairs with Ryan Nickulas

Celebrity stylist Ryan Nickulas (catch him on The A-List New York on Logo TV) gives us the dish on living a fabulously beautiful life in Splitting Hairs: Ryan Nickulas' Guide to the Luxe Life, his new column for The Fashion Spot.

Pink haircutHi Sugars! I’m Ryan and I’m thrilled to be writing for The Fashion Spot. Today, I want to discuss something I’ve been thinking about lately: what do you do when you’ve gotten an awful haircut?! Think: Pink. She hasn't been shy about speaking up on how much she hates her 'hack' job (right). So dolls, what do you do when you look like someone took a hatchet to your hair? I'm here to save your style!

First things first, you need a great distraction. The key? You aren’t trying to trick others but to trick yourself! Think out of the box and go for something new, whether it’s makeup, playing with your locks or some bling.

If you're usually a no makeup kinda girl, then go major and try a bold lip. Pucker up with an always-chic, classic red or go sassy with this season’s IT color coral. Stila makes killer lip and cheek stains, as does Make Up Forever with their Lab Shine gloss line.

Try a half up, half down look to get you through that awkward growing out phase. Since hair only grows about a 1/2 inch a month, you’ve got to be patient, but can do so looking great. Luckily, this season’s all about the deliberately disheveled ‘do.

Try a glam, eye-grabbing earring that you wouldn’t normally wear. Dangling dazzlers will draw attention their way, so no one will even be looking at your hair!
